This was our first time eating Sichuan cuisine, and let me tell you... What a delightful experience! This place has taken the cake in the Portland Asian Food category for me! We ordered the sweet & sour cabbage and veggie buns to start, my husband got the double cooked tofu and I had the mala dry hotpot. Ho. Ly. Mo. Ly. Each dish was incredibly flavorful! The sauce of the sweet & sour cabbage was so tasty and the cabbage was still nice and crunchy. The veggie buns were delicious and I wish there were a couple more in the order, we ate them so fast! Both of our main dishes were phenomenal. The combination of spices was so satisfying and I couldn’t stop eating my mala dish! At first, I thought the “mouth-numbing” description of the meal was referring to how spicy it would be, and I was down for it. NOPE. ACTUALLY MOUTH NUMBING. AND ACTUALLY INCREDIBLE. The variety of veggies and the jasmine rice was just too damn good. Paired with a Sapporo, this little lady was a happy camper with a full belly. Man, I can’t wait to get back to this cozy little place! The vibes were right with a comforting atmosphere, service was stellar and attentive, and the food was on point to put it lightly!

This place blew me away. I wasn't expecting to have such bright bursts of complex Szechuan cuisine but every bite was an eyes widening head nodding "ooohhh yeah!!!" Tian shui noodles were the perfect way to start off. The sweet and sour cabbage was a sleeper agent. Really flavorful and cooked just right- some crunch but also soft enough. The double cooked pork was so tender. The xiao long bao also tasted so fresh. Everything was spicy and flavorful and unique. without all tasting the same. The menu had so many authentic options that I can't wait to try. Such kind calm service and peaceful atmosphere.

We tried the dry fried chicken and the double cooked pork. Both were absolutely delicious, but the double cooked pork took the prize as best. We came here while visiting Portland looking for some authentic Sichuan food, and this restaurant definitely didn't disappoint. Real Chinese food is the best! Sichuan Kitchen is definitely a must try.

Truly a happy experience! Imagine a Friday night in Portland, Maine, and you have limited navigation (hip operation recovery), and it’s starting to rain.... the staff at Sichuan Kitchen took wonderful care of us by seating us at the bar and by suggesting dishes that we might enjoy. We did enjoy the food delivered with excellent timing and smiles. Thank you all for taking such good care of your diners. I watched as all the guests were cared for in the same way. It wasn’t just the two older people it was everyone. I was so pleased with how the meal was served that I forgot to take a food photo. We had Zhong dumplings, egg fried rice, and Gong Bao Chicken. Just enough food for the two of us. Don’t forget to look up and enjoy the ceiling! See photo

Maybe our favorite restaurant in Portland since moving in June! Each dish is an absolute winner. We had the soup dumplings, mapo tofu, Xiao long bao and green beans. Each blew us away. Complex, soul-satisfying flavors that stay with you for the rest of the night. Such a treat!

Wow, what an amazing little place in Portland. Service is awesome and extremely nice. The interior decor also makes the place very intimate and a vibe. It's a little small and gets pretty packed at night but it's well worth the wait. The food is immaculate. Delicious, flavorful, and so authentic. Prices were hit or miss but overall, it's very well worth your money. I highly recommend the Gong Bao Chicken (20) as well as the Double-Cooked Pork (19). A wonderful experience all around. I will absolutely be coming back and sharing this place with my friends and family.

This is some of the best Chinese food I've had in the United States. We got the vegetarian buns, ma-la hot pot (be prepared for mouth numbingly spicy vegetables and tofu), and the cucumber salad. It was all delicious!

I was here for dinner, walking in, it’s a nice little restaurant. The interior decor and design is great. I had the spicy dumplings for starter which was so delicious. Then I ordered the spicy pork noodles, they never asked me about the spice level so I assumed it would be what most can eat. The food came out extremely spicy, I tried one bite and knew there was no way I could eat it. They were generous enough to make my food again on a milder spice level but please make sure you specify how spicy you want your food. The heat is real. Besides that, I had a good experience here and I might be back to try more menu items.
